Minor League Standards

Age Level:  Grades 3 and 4.

This league is intended for girls who have had some experience either in instructional softball (but it is not a necessity). Minor League girls should have some knowledge of the basics described in the instructional league standards. Girls will be competing in a traveling league and will receive a participation trophy at the end of the season.   The 11” softball is used with live pitching by the players. All games in this division are played in Hudson against Hudson teams. Each player must play every position at least once during the season unless the coach feels there is a significant safety issue for a child. Players must be rotated between the infield and the outfield on a consistent basis.

In addition to reinforcing the basics, the Minor League introduces several intermediate aspects of softball such as:

·         Bunting- Correct bunting stance, foot placement, proper hand position, etc.

·         Sliding- How to correctly slide (feet first) without injury.

·          Pitching- Correct mechanics for fastpitch pitching.

·         Stealing- First to second base only. Limited to two attempts per ½ inning.

Each team will play 10-12 minimum of games during the season. On average, one to two games will be played per week.

Each team will also practice at least once during the week.  Games and practices are subject to change due to weather, field availability, and other circumstances.
