This league is intended for boys/girls who are beginners at baseball wanting to learn the basics.  This league is also intended for boys/girls who have played in the T-ball or instructional baseball leagues and who want to further their knowledge and improve their skills of baseball.  This league is designed to be very low-key with an emphasis on learning versus competing.  Each boy/girl will receive a participation trophy at the end of the season.  This league uses a baseball known as a soft baseball and the coach’s pitch.

The basic skills will be taught in this league:

  • Batting:  Correct stance, where to stand, differentiating between a ball and a strike, etc.

  • Catching:  Proper glove position when catching a ball, using two hands to catch the ball, relieving any fears of catching the ball, etc.

  • Throwing:  How to hold the ball correctly, proper foot to lead with when throwing, etc.

  • Fielding:  Where to stand on the field for each position, the responsibilities of each position, what player gets the batted ball and when, etc.

  • Running: Players will learn how to slide properly into a base.

Season Duration:

Each team will play between 12 – 14 games during the season.  On average, two games will be played

per week (one game during a weeknight and one game on Saturday).  Each team will also practice at least once during the week.  Games and practices are subject to change due to weather, field availability, and other circumstances. All players eligible to move up to the Minor league the following year will be able to participate in the end of year “Minor Move Up Games”.
